Server Software
The server software determines what type of server your instance runs, for example PaperMC, Forge, Velocity, etc. This is being called Eggs in our game panel. Changing the egg of your instance lets you switch between different server types
Changing the Egg
Section titled “Changing the Egg”1. Open your Server
Section titled “1. Open your Server”Open your server panel at gp.allay-hosting.com. If you do not have one yet, you can purchase your server with any configuration at https://allay-hosting.com/game.
2. Change the Egg
Section titled “2. Change the Egg”In the settings area under the Egg section, you will have the option to change your server’s egg. Select an egg and follow the further instructions in the panel. If you are unsure what kind of eggs we offer, here is a brief overview
| Egg Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Paper | Optimized Minecraft server with plugin support |
| Purpur | A fork of PaperMC that includes various optimisations |
| Vanilla | Official Minecraft server without any modifications |
| Forge | Minecraft server with mod support |
| Fabric | Lightweight mod loader for Minecraft |
| Velocity | Modern and fast proxy server |
You will be asked to confirm the change and whether you want to wipe your server files. If you choose this option, all files on your server will be permanently deleted. This can make sense when switching from a backend server to a proxy server, but if you are only changing from Paper to Purpur, for example, it is usually not necessary.
3. Installation of custom software
Section titled “3. Installation of custom software”If you are interested in using server software that is not available as a preset, ensure that you have downloaded the desired version and uploaded it to your container. Then rename your uploaded file to server.jar and restart your server.
4. Restart the Server
Section titled “4. Restart the Server”After saving any changes, restart your server in the Console window for them to take effect.
